Dentures are undoubtedly one of the best ways to replace a full arch of missing teeth, but many patients struggle with adjusting to life with dentures due to issues with dentures slipping or falling out while they are eating and speaking. With implant-supported dentures at Paxton Dental Care, patients in the Paxton and Worcester, MA area can get the best of both worlds – a full arch of functional teeth provided by the denture, and the stability and support that comes with dental implants.

Dr. Siemen is amazing.!The entire office is so caring and compassionate. State of art care and cutting edge procedures have helped me heal very well from some serious and painful dental issues over the last few years..I have had alot of dental work performed at this practice. Root canals to implants and I just find them to be exceptional! Always getting a call or text after a procedure by Dr.Siemen to check in personally that I am alright is so unexpected! I can’t think of many providers that offer this level of care in our busy healthcare system today. The staff makes this place just as special! Julie and Heather with their warm welcoming smiles make coming here feel like you are visting friends not a dentist office! Totally not a fan of any dentist prior to being a patient here. Not at all! Alot of bad experiences at other offices and unnecessary pain and fear.Dr.Siemen changed that. This office truly “caters- to -cowards” & the extras are wonderful.. iPad and headphones really help and tea/coffee on a cold morning while waiting is just nice.. Just one of many ways they try and make you feel as welcome as possible. I am so very thankful that I found them!! Makes you feel spoiled!! 😊A very clean office too. I work in healthcare and especially during these past two years with pandemic protocols needing to be in place, I always felt they were looking out for my safety so I could just relax. The atmosphere is warm and inviting not cold and sterile and that appeals to me and helps me to stay calm. It is a joy to tell others about them. Alot of words however, been going here for many years & about time I write a review.Hidden gem!! Highly recommend!

How implant-supported dentures work

Implant-supported dentures are a type of overdenture that consist of two parts: your dentures, which replace your missing teeth, and strategically placed dental implants that secure the dentures in place. This minimally invasive treatment is a great option for patients who want the stability of dental implants, which act like a natural tooth root, but have several teeth that need to be replaced with dentures. Many patients are interested in implant-supported lower dentures because the lower denture has less natural suction and typically presents greater challenges with slipping during eating or speaking.

The process for placing implant-supported dentures

While regular dental implants can take several months and multiple visits to place, implant-supported dentures can often be placed and attached to your denture in just one visit. The mini implant system for lower dentures is:

  • Comfortable – no incisions or sutures are necessary, and there is no long recovery period
  • Economical – implant-supported dentures are more affordable than placing a full arch of dental implants
  • Convenient – the implant placement is quick and easy (it usually takes less than an hour), and only one trip to the dentist is necessary

After numbing the area where the implants will be placed, Dr. Siemen uses a highly precise and controlled technique to place the mini implants into your jawbone. The implants have small ball-shaped heads that protrude from your gums and attach to an O-shaped ring in your dentures. In most cases, you can walk out of the office on the same day with your dentures securely attached!

Are you looking for a way to replace your missing teeth and restore your smile?

Implant-supported dentures is an option you want to consider. Unlike traditional dentures that rest on your gums, implant-supported dentures attach to metal posts that are surgically placed in your jawbone to provide more stability and comfort.

The process for implant-supported dentures requires a consultation with a dentist or oral surgeon to examine the mouth and jawbone, take X-rays and impressions, and discuss options and expectations. To ensure a successful outcome, it is important to have a healthy oral hygiene routine and avoid smoking.

The surgery to place dental implants in the jawbone is done under local anesthesia or sedation and involves making small incisions in the gums, drilling holes in the jawbone, and inserting metal posts. The implants will act as artificial tooth roots that will fuse with the bone over time.

After the surgery, you will need to wait for the implants to heal and integrate with your jawbone. During this time, you will wear a temporary denture and follow your dentist’s instructions to clean and care for the surgical site.

Your dentist will create a custom-made denture that matches the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth. It will have special attachments that snap onto the implants, allowing you to remove it easily for cleaning. Your dentist will adjust the fit and bite until you are comfortable with your new smile.

Implant-supported dentures offer many benefits over traditional dentures, such as improved stability and retention, enhanced comfort and function, preserved bone and facial structure, and increased confidence and self-esteem. However, they are more expensive and may not be covered by some insurance plans. Additionally, they require multiple visits and procedures over several months, which may not be suitable for some patients. Additionally, there is a risk of infection, bleeding, nerve damage, sinus problems, or implant failure.
