Teeth whitening for a bright smile in Paxton, MA

Many of our favorite foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, red wine, soda, berries, and tomato sauces, are delicious to eat and drink but wreak havoc on the color of our teeth. In addition, other factors such as tobacco use, taking certain medications, and even simply getting older can lead to a yellowed appearance to your teeth. At Paxton Dental Care, patients in the Paxton and Worcester MA area can whiten their teeth safely and effectively with professional teeth whitening treatments.

What causes teeth discoloration?

At Paxton Dental Care, we have many patients who are looking to improve the appearance of their smile. One of the reasons why a person might want to improve the appearance of their smile is because their teeth are discolored.

There are many reasons why a patient’s teeth become discolored. Whether It be from smoking cigarettes, certain foods they have been eating, maybe they haven’t kept their teeth as clean as possible, could be by drinking lots of coffee or drink wine, etc.

The second way a person’s teeth can become discolored is from the inside out. This is mainly due to certain medications taken in their childhood.

What are the whitening treatments available at Paxton Dental Care?

We have two different ways that we whiten people’s teeth. One is with a product called KoR whitening. This is a gel that is placed into custom-fitted take-home trays that fit precisely around a patient’s teeth.

A very small amount of gel is put into these trays and is worn overnight for two weeks, and the patient will notice that their teeth are changing color.

The other treatment of whitening that we offer is a combination of whitening toothpaste and a less custom-fitted tray that they can take home.

How teeth whitening works

Our teeth are covered in enamel that looks like it is shiny and impermeable, but in fact, it is covered in many tiny channels called tubules. Over time, eating and drinking richly pigmented foods can lead to a buildup of dark molecules in these tubules, which over-the-counter treatments like whitening toothpaste cannot remove. With professional tooth whitening, a peroxide solution is placed in a comfortable tray that rests on your teeth, where it penetrates the tubules to dislodge stains and lightens your teeth. Professional teeth whitening is:

  • Simple
  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Non-invasive

…and it can make a huge difference in your smile—even taking years off your overall appearance!

Brighten your smile

If you are ready for a brighter, whiter smile, there has never been a better time to act. At Paxton Dental Care, we offer patients safe, non-invasive, effective tooth whitening solutions. First, we take impressions of your teeth to create custom-made whitening trays. When they are ready, we provide you with a professional-grade whitening solution to use either overnight or twice per day in the convenience of your own home. In just a few weeks, you will see a dramatic improvement in the color of your teeth.

We will provide thorough care instructions and help you choose the whitening method that is best for you. If your teeth become stained again over time, you can simply re-use your custom-fitted trays for touch-up treatments.

If you have dental restorations, it is important to understand that they will not be whitened along with your natural teeth during the teeth whitening process, so we will work with you to evaluate whether old restorations should be replaced to match your bright new smile.
